here is the proof but can someone explain this better what are the letters for i thought there were only sopose to be numbers

could someone tell me what person thought that ailens that ailens use radio waves the same ailens are sopose to be far superior than us by millions of years
why wouldent they use somthing else by now

Google: seti wow signal for a ton of links. Here's just one from Wikipedia that summarizes the issue and gives some more links. And here is an article by the person who discovered the signal writing about it on its twentieth anniversary. Hope this helps.

You really need to read the links. Here is the conclusion by the astonomer responsible for discovering the signal and writing "Wow!" This is from his anniversary article, which contains all the technical detail you could ever want about the signal.

Thus, I must state that the origin of the Wow! signal is still an open question for me. There is simply too little data to draw many conclusions. In other words, as I stated above, I choose not to "draw vast conclusions from 'half-vast' data".

Why, Andromeda, in particular? Do you have relatives there? And where specifically in Andromeda, do you mean? It's a big place, like the Milky Way. Maybe you could narrow that down a little.

well no particular place it would just be better because it is close to us (earth) and we would be able to there faster than a place really far away and i feally want this to be in my lifetime

I used to think a great deal was SETI... now? Morse in the broadband era. Perhaps there will be another Wow! Big old pussy-pulsar could over-press. Me? I'll keep lookin' up and seeing things. Remember Donna Summer? On the radio, radio, radio...

Cheers,

Vic

Don't hold your breath. Andromeda is 2.5 million light years away. So if you could travel at 2.5 million times the speed of light you could get there in a year.

ok nevermind i dont think we could ewan go the speed of light which when you spell it out sounds really fast 186,00 miles per SECOND
but you never know

but what about wormholes einstien proved they were real and einstien also proved that nothing could go faster than the speed of light because the closer you get to the speed of light the more mass the object gets until the object is infinantly massive
(but ailens seem to be getting here just fine)

Yup, really really far away, it's another galaxy with billions and billions of stars in it, like shyuler says. If you view andromeda through a telescope your look at light that left the galaxy 2.5 million years ago, and if there was a signal, the signal would be just as old. Therefor rendering any civilizations that sent it in the first placed probably extinct.

I wanted to open a thread about it. Can you give a link, if it is discussed before..? I want to know what the people think about this measurments and possibility of being visited by a "craft"?? Everything is so far away from us...

The second part of your statement is correct; the first part, alas, isn't (I don't think.) Einstein didn't prove wormholes, though they have been discussed by modern physics as a possibility, not proven. There are some tantalizing tidbits of String Theory that suggest wormholes might be possible, but String Theory, though mathematically satisfying, has not been experimentally verified. But, as you say, who knows? Perhaps a larger theory encompassing Einstein could show how faster than light travel was possible. We're just not there yet.

(but ailens seem to be getting here just fine)

For the sake of argument, let us presume that is true. Might that not point to an origin for these little fellas other than 'andromeda'?

Andromeda is the closest Galaxy to the Milkyway, but we don't look for radio signals from other Galaxies, as they are too far away. There are hundreds of billions of stars to check out in our Galaxy first.

but most of einstiens theorys have wormholes in them i will try to find links later and edit this

I always heard aliens were supposed to be telepathic. Would they even have radio signals? Can you "radio" telepathy? Would they even need to invent things like TV, phone, radio if they were telepathic? Maybe those are just human inventions. Makes me wonder if they are even using communication equipment we could detect. I'm not sure how you communicate long distance with telepathy. It probably wouldn't be a radio signal.

Nobody can really 'suppose' aliens are telepathic, thats just stuff from sci-fi and abductees. No offence to any abductees there intended, Unfortunately to verify they are telepathic we would have to have knowledge of their existance, and proof, they look for radio waves because i guess they think it's reasonable to assume that an advanced civilization like ours (or not so advanced
) would use similar technology.

We only know how to verify life as we know it and i suppose that could be a problem, perhaps aliens do communicate telepathically we just can't prove it either way.

Many other things can give off energy in many different bands including radio. Pulsars, quasars, brown dwarfs etc. Perhaps they were in the right place at right time. As far as proof of ET parallel, probably a stretch, however certainly not impossible.

Well, maybe because they would be looking for someone that they know arent as technologically advanced as they are.
Maybe they would just theorize as to what we would use or perhaps their race had kept really good records and after digging through their archives they seen where their ancestors used radio waves, for numerous purpgoses.
Just a guess on my part

Traveling faster than the speed of light, now that would be a cool thing to do

Just think, I could leave somewhere and if im traveling faster than the speed of light, then I wold arrive before I left.
so I would be meeting myself..
Isnt there a theory that you would get a time paradox if something like that were to happen?

Not really, while you would be travelling fast, to arrive somewhere before you left would mean going backwards in time.

You could get there faster than the light from your origin could, but say your destination was 186000 miles away.. You'd still take up about a second, including acceleration/deacceleration (I'm guestimating if you could travel this fast, you would have a good means of starting and stopping this force!)

ISN`T 20YRS LEAVING IT A BIT LONG TO SEND ANOTHER SIGNAL.MAYBE TIME DOESN`T RUN FOR THE SENDER LIKE IT DOES FOR US,STILL A BIT LONG THOUGH! I AM SURE THAT WE ARE NOT ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE BUT IF IT TAKES THAT LONG TO COMUNICATE WE MAY AS WELL BE.MAYBE IT WAS SENT 2.3 MILL YEARS AGO EX ANDROMEDA,BUT IT SEEMS TO HAVE NO MEANING OTHER THAN A PULSE OF ENERGY GIVEN OFF BY SOMEBODY OR SOMETHING. PLEASE DON`T GIVE ME THE CRAP THAT IT WAS JUST TO SAY " WE ARE HEAR" BECAUSE IF YOU GO TO GREAT EXSPENSE TO SEND A SIGNAL FOR ALL TO HEAR YOU ARE GOING TO PUT IT IN SUCH A WAY AS TO MAKE IT VERY OBVIOUS IT IS AN ARTIFICIAL SIGNAL BY MAKING IT SAY SOMETHING,OR IS MY LOGIC FLAWED!
